Sharing a Zen Teaching called ” Everything Changes”
One of the foremost teachings in Zen is that everything in life is impermanent.
Suzuki Roshi (Shunryu Suzuki of Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind) is referring to this impermanence by saying “everything changes”.
I understood why this teaching is important. The teaching reveals that grasping onto things is one of the major reasons as to why we suffer.
All physical things, thoughts and feelings around you are impermanent.Stop holding too tight because nothing lasts. Feelings pass away, flowers fade, bodies grow older. Nothing in this world stays the exact same way. Fighting natural change creates heavy suffering.
When you see the truth of change, you stop trying to grab onto things. If you don’t grasp or get attached to things, there is really no need to let go. When you understand this truth, you stop stressing over what you own or what you miss.
The realization that everything changes, can help you enjoy life right now without the fear of losing it.
You, the conscious observer of the physical things are constant and untouched by time. So step back from the non stop mental chatter and worry. Give your full attention to whatever you are doing right now, whether you are talking to someone, washing dishes or working.
Feel into the moment without judging or labeling things. Get into appreciation for the experience. This leaves no place for suffering.
As you continue to be in awareness of the current moment, you find a steady foundation of support. Your focus in the here and now reduces stress. You are not running on autopilot with mind stories of the past or future. Your mind is clear to create answers and great solutions.
Deeply feeling into the present moment without judgment or distraction of past or future thoughts, the noisy chatter of the mind fades into the background leaving space for Divine inspiration to flow through you as calm intuition.
Blessings!
