THE ILLUSION OF FIXING OTHERS

Let people be who they are. The highest form of love and respect you can offer someone is to allow them to be themselves.

When you believe others must change so you can feel better, you place your wellbeing in their hands. The more you try to fix things for others, the more you drain yourself. You are not responsible for anyone else’s feelings or happiness.

Let people experience their emotions — even the uncomfortable ones. Everyone has the right to feel, process, and grow at their own pace. Every person is born capable; creation does not make mistakes. The world is not broken, and you are not here to fix it.

Stop spending your life on things you cannot control. You cannot fix or transform anyone, that is an illusion. When you try to fix people, you overextend your time, energy, and resources, often when your help is neither requested nor helpful.

When you do this repeatedly, you lose the time and space needed to care for your own emotional and mental wellbeing. You slowly lose your happiness in the process. In trying to keep the peace or make things right, you unknowingly give your power away.

When your sense of worth becomes tied to being needed or being of service, you lose your identity. You may even feel guilty when you’re not putting others first.

The only control you truly have is over your own healing. You are responsible for your own happiness. If your happiness depends on other people being happy, you will always feel unstable.

Respect other people’s capacity to handle their own challenges. Invest your attention in what you are feeling. Allow yourself to experience your emotions fully. Emotions are indicators, they show you where you are and how far you may be from your true self.

Blessings!
