Forgiveness is an essential act of self‑liberation. Resentment and hatred are poisons that slowly erode both physical and mental well‑being. To forgive is not to excuse harmful behavior; it is to free yourself so you can live in Divine harmony and allow your life to flow with greater ease.
Forgive and release with sincerity. We make soul‑level agreements with people before entering this life, and sometimes those agreements unfold in painful ways. It is not always possible or even safe to speak directly with the person involved. In some cases, they may no longer be alive.
A powerful way to begin the work of forgiveness is through inner practice. Sit quietly with yourself and bring the person into your mind’s eye. Look at them with sincerity and say:
“We made a contract in this life for growth and experience. We tried, but it did not work. Let us now tear up this contract.”
Imagine yourself tearing the contract and watching it dissolve. Then affirm:
“I fully and freely forgive and release you and this situation — mentally and spiritually. I let you go your way with love, and I go mine. I am free, and you are free.”
Forgiveness is not a one-time act but it is a process. Practice it daily until the memory of the person or situation no longer triggers emotional pain. When that softening begins, the next step is to forgive yourself for what you did, what you didn’t do, and what you simply didn’t know at the time.
True forgiveness is reaching a state where encountering or thinking of the person who hurt you no longer causes emotional pain and you can genuinely wish them well.
Blessings!
