Today is the longest day of the year, the summer solstice.
Solstice comes from Latin, where “Sol” means sun and “stitium” means being still.
Solstice is the mark of a new season, of new beginnings.
The solstice is a time to meditate and experience self-reflection. It is a time to go within, meditate on the inner sun and practice stillness.
For this meditation you can start by reflecting upon all the things in life you are grateful for.
Sit still with yourself. Notice your breathing.
As the breath goes in and out, in your mind’s eye see a brilliant sun rise in your heart space.
Breathe in and breathe out this inner light of the sun. Imagine every breath being filled with this golden radiant light of your inner sun. As you breathe in allow it to fill every cell in your body with radiant light and joy.
As you breathe out allow this inner light to flow out through you to the world outside.
Hold this breath vision as long as you can, see this light flow around you to the whole earth, covering every being with light and joy.
Give a blessing from your heart ” May all beings live in safety. May all beings be healthy. May all beings be happy. May all beings live with ease.”
Blessings!
