HEALING HORMONES

HEALING HORMONES

Creating healing hormones in our body is crucial for the health and well being of our body and mind.
These healing hormones help reduce stress, alleviate depression, they improve self esteem. They also help in reducing pain, repairing and rejuvenating the cells in our body and bring about healing and well being for body and mind.

Hormones are chemicals produced by our body, they act as messengers, they travel throughout our body through the blood stream to various organs and tissues and control every bodily function and also our moods and the way we feel.

There are a group of hormones in our body that have been called as the ‘feel-good’ hormones because of the positive feelings they produce, that includes happiness, well being and joy.
If feel-good hormones are the key then it is important that we get to know them and also learn how to increase their production in our body.

The feel-good hormones of the body are oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin, endorphins. These four feel-good hormones are called as neurotransmitters because they carry messages across the spaces between nerve cells.

The hormone, Dopamine plays an important role in mental clarity, learning and attention, moods, heart rate, kidney function, blood vessel function, sleep and pain process.
The hormone Serotonin regulates mood, sleep, digestion, and memory.
The Endorphins are natural pain relievers produces by our body.

Of all the hormones, Oxytocin produced from our brain, is called as the ‘love hormone’ of the body.
Oxytocin is released during childbirth and breastfeeding. It helps to create a strong parent-child bond.

Oxytocin is also released from our brain when we fall in love, when we are kind, when we do a selfless act.

The amazing thing about the very many studies and research show that the brain produces Oxytocin in the person who is doing a kind act and also the one who is receiving the kindness gets a surge of oxytocin in their brain, and amazingly Oxytocin is also produced in the brain of the person who is witnessing this exchange of kindness.
And the best part is that the more oxytocin we have in our body, the more generous we become.

Nature designed the human being to be a loving being, that is the original blueprint. Everything that goes against nature creates stress and anxiety.

Oxytocin binds human beings. Acts of kindness, genuine acts of generosity with no expectation in return, boost the oxytocin in the body. It is nature’s way of making us look after ourselves and each other.

Research suggests that oxytocin can have a positive impact on social behaviors. It creates trust and overall psychological stability.

Harvard Medical School, in their ‘Harvard Health Publishing’ state that low oxytocin levels are linked to symptoms of depression. In their research they say that supplementing oxytocin in the form of pills to help relieve anxiety and depression has not worked, the results are disappointing because it was hard for the supplement to slip across the blood-brain barrier.

So they suggest that the most promising way to boost oxytocin naturally is with simple lifestyle changes like diet, exercise, meditation, practicing optimism, spending time in nature, listening to pleasant music, spending time with people you care about, practicing kindness towards oneself and others.

In this busy modern world, we have forgotten to connect with our body and with nature. Our bodies have the natural ability to heal and rejuvenate. The healing hormones play a major role in the healing of our body. It is important to connect with our body’s wisdom to help release the healing ability of our body.
When the body and mind are healthy, we move through life with ease.

Simple things that we can do everyday to tune our body and mind is to become like little children, play, laugh, do fun things, blow bubbles, run down the beach, hug a tree, play with a pet, play with little children, listen to music, write, paint , draw, practice silence, practice meditation, fall in love, have great friendships, do acts of kindness without expecting in return, constantly reach for good feeling thoughts, be kind to your mind, do simple exercises , martial arts or Qi Gong.

Our body is designed to thrive on unconditional love. It is important to get in tune with our true nature, to do the things that bring us good feelings, to be kind, compassionate, caring and appreciative, to live from our heart so that we create well being for ourselves and for each other. These are simple acts that anyone can do to enhance their life and that of others around them.
Blessings!
