
BENEFITS OF SELF LOVE
Loving yourself is the most empowering gift you can give yourself.
You overcome your limitations only by learning to love yourself.
There is a lot of scientific evidence suggesting that self love can
have a positive impact on your mental health, self-esteem and overall life satisfaction.
It is also noted that self love is self positivity, it cultivates positive personality traits and positive behaviors in people.
Self love is not pleasure, it is hard work. It is consciously choosing to give oneself the time and space to process one’s own thoughts and emotions, so that you gather strength for yourself and get into balance.
You love yourself because you are the temple where in the Divine resides, and every thing you need in life is within your temple, and in order to receive your gifts you connect with your inner being/Divine Presence by loving yourself. When you love yourself, you allow the Divine to love you and to help you and guide you. This is the powerful inner strength that we are born with.
When we fail to connect with our inner strength we get swamped by the cares and troubles in life and we fall into addictions in the outer world. We lose our way.
In this life journey I have found that the more I was able to connect with my inner strength the more balanced I became. From my perspective these are the benefits I realized by working on self love:
*Loving yourself will help you to make powerful right decisions for you in your life.
*Loving yourself will help you drop expectations from people, because you satisfy your needs by being your own best friend.
*Loving yourself stops you from taking in other people’s opinions about you as yours.
*Loving yourself stops you from comparing and competing with others.
*Loving yourself stops you from searching for love, approval, or appreciation from the wrong places, you do not have the need for these things anymore because you learn to approve and appreciate yourself.
*Loving yourself helps you to come into the knowing that you are a beloved child of the Universe and that every situation or person is sent your way benevolently by the Divine for your greater good. Even though the mind may judge them as good or bad, because you love yourself you will trust in Divine benevolence always.
*Loving yourself you consciously and constantly bring in thoughts of kindness towards yourself and others, which helps you to keep away from stress even when you are facing stressful situations.
*Loving yourself you will be more alert and aware to the opportunities life opens up for you to use your talents and your gifts in a more satisfying way for yourself and others.
*Loving yourself you live from your heart from the place of truth and not from your mind.
Some Simple but profound exercise on loving the Self:
1. Pay attention to how you talk to yourself. Avoid negative self talk.
On waking up please your hand on your heart and say to your sweet self “I love you, you are wonderful”
On looking into the mirror say to your sweet self, “I love you, you are wonderful”
Write love letters to yourself with words such as, “I love myself, I trust myself, I am wonderful”
2. Take time out for self care of body and mind. Take naps, give your body rest, relaxation, food, water and exercise. Relax your mind by connecting with nature, laugh, play, silence, exercise.
3. Respect and value your time and effort. Place healthy boundaries. Learn to say ‘no’ to protect and value your time and energy.
4. Be kind and compassionate towards yourself. Know that you are worthy, the Divine resides in you, you are Divinity in Physicality. You deserve your own kindness and compassion first. If you are suffering, the Divine in you also suffers. When you are kind towards yourself, it is easy to bring mental clarity and you get access to Divine wisdom to guide you.
5. Learn from your failures. Do not get into blame games. Do not beat yourself down. Make space for self reflection, by taking time to review the events of the day, have a journaling practice, talking to a trusted friend. Use challenges as opportunities for personal growth. Turn disappointments into your favor.
Do these self-love exercises as many times as you can and notice the beautiful changes within you.
Your perception of life changes and surprisingly the world around you also changes.
