LAUGH OUT LOUD
Laughter is the best medicine to boost the health of body, mind and spirit.
Laughter helps to release precious feel-good hormones from the brain like oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins.
Oxytocin is called the love hormone, it helps to promote trust, empathy and bonding in human relationships.
Dopamine is associated with learning, memory and many more activities in the entire body system.
Serotonin regulates mood, sleep cycles, learning ability, digestion and many more.
Endorphins are natural pain relievers, they help reduces stress and discomfort.
In this modern world and its high level of stress it is difficult for the brain to release these hormones easily. That is why according to medical statistics, stress is considered as the number one killer.
When life is seen as serious and stressful, the body continues to produce stress hormones which create problems in all body systems.
All ancient scriptures invite us to explore the mystery of becoming child-like. If you see children they laugh easily, smile easily. They laugh for no reason, they are not tied to a reason to laugh or smile. They are curious and they enjoy the simple things of life.
Choosing to get into the child-like state of mind is healing for body, mind and spirit.
We are energy beings, we emit frequency. The law of frequency is like frequency attracts like frequency. The law of the Universe is what you put out you get back in abundance.
The miracle is that we can consciously sit with ourselves and choose to create harmony and joy within our body, which brings clarity of mind and action and brings pleasantness into our space from the Universe.
As humans we have the amazing capacity of imagination. Imagination is magic. Imagination sends message to our body cells. Conscious imagination creates change. Humans are so powerful that we can self regulate our body by our thoughts and imagination.
Here is a simple laughter meditation that anyone can do. When practiced diligently it creates amazing health and well being for the body, mind and spirit.
Meditation:
1. Sit with yourself silently, see that you are not disturbed by pets, people, or the phone. Know that you are creating a sacred space for your body, mind and spirit. Sit comfortably.
2. Start noticing your breathing, gently close your eyes.
3. Now slowly as you notice your breathing, start with a little giggle for no reason. Then bring another giggle, and another, breathe, another giggle. Notice that you are automatically smiling.
4. In your imagination see every cell and organ of your body giggling and happy. Start with your head, imagine your head giggling, then go to your neck see your neck giggling, then your chest, abdomen, thighs, your entire legs till your toes.
Take time to see each part of your body immersed in the giggle.
5. Then slowly as you hold that imagination your body may laugh out loudly or silently, give permission for it to do this.
6. Hold your body as if you are hugging it, by placing your hands on your shoulders, right hand on the left shoulder and left hand on the right shoulder. As you giggle rock your body as if you are holding a little child in your arms.
7. Enjoy the sensation as long as you can and then let go. Slowly when you are ready get up and go about your day to day chores as usual.
The happy hormones released by this meditation are powerful medicine to heal body, mind and spirit.
It is a very pleasant exercise, anyone can practice. Practicing diligently creates a huge positive shift.
