HEALING TRAUMA- SHARING A POWERFUL EXERCISE

Those who anger, irritate, or hurt you are experiencing discord within themselves. Understanding this you free yourself. Silently bless them to have peace. Instantly you uplift yourself.

As the saying goes, only hurt people can hurt others.

Everyone of us go through trauma of some kind in our lifetime. It may be extremely distressing events that may include physical, emotional, mental or spiritual abuse, natural disasters, wars, slavery, or systemic mistreatment.

Everyone experiences and processes trauma differently.
Some recover from their trauma, some get into a high alert stressful state.

People who are able to process their traumatic experiences are able to have a better understanding of their thoughts and emotions. They start accepting what has happened in the past and begin to move on with their lives.
They also come to realize that they are stronger, more empathetic, open-hearted and more wiser because they went through certain situations. This knowledge helps them to move forward.

When we don’t take time to sit with ourselves and process our trauma, it gets stuck in our body, mind and emotions. And this creates more fear thoughts, self-blame and impaired functioning.

Unprocessed trauma also gets perpetuated inter-generationally. It gets passed down through families.
Addressing and understanding the roots of this inter-generational trauma is vital for individual healing and preventing it from passing down through families.

Processing trauma is vital to keep oneself and one’s future generations in better mental and physical health.
Working through trauma helps to heal from painful experiences and reset our nervous system.
It helps us to see life differently, it helps to create a new physical and mental state. Our relationships with others improve and we feel more supported by life, we tend to appreciate more and we are able to evolve spiritually.

To resolve trauma we can access professional help such as counseling, hypnotherapy and other trauma release exercises.
Meditation, practicing gratitude, journaling, participating in arts and creative expression like painting, drawing, music, pottery, drumming, connecting with nature, practicing martial arts, Yoga, Qi Gong all these help to release trauma in amazing ways.

Some of the empowering tools that I teach my students are gratitude, sel-love, forgiveness, and creative visualizations. These are fail-proof tools and if the individual is willing and diligent, they produce amazing results.

One simple creative visualization tool involves addressing the pain as a separate individual being. Giving the pain a name and a form, love it and even sing to it..
Accepting it and talking to it as a separate being is a powerful process of healing.
Usually it is the tendency of our brain to push the pain aside, to deny it, to beat it up, to make it wrong or bad, to patch it up with addictions, to drug it or medicate it.
The first step towards healing the pain is to stop all this behavior.

– A Simple Powerful Exercise
Sit silently with yourself, in your imagination take a step back from your body, imagine the pain as a form, it can be a big black cloud, it can be a harmful weapon, it can be a bad character in a comic book, just creatively give it a form, any form.
Then color it and give it a name.
Bring it outside your body.
(Ho’oponopono sentences help to address this pain-being.)
You now acknowledge the presence of this pain.
You stop it from suffering by loving it.
So you can say to it with feeling, ‘I am sorry that I have not acknowledged you so far, forgive me, I thank you for showing up, I love you. I send you my love.
Again with your imagination you can send your love for it as a brilliant golden energy ball from your heart that goes and envelopes this black cloud or weapon or a character, or whatever your imagination of the pain is.
Your energy ball of love, that you send from your heart, goes and envelops the pain being in a blanket of golden loving light.
You can also sing or hum to it chants like ‘HU’ or ‘OM’ to it.
All these create a high vibration of love.
The pain being starts to change, it gets absorbed and healed by the high frequency of love.

Take time to do this exercise as many times as you can. You will start seeing significant shifts in your body and mind.
Blessings!
