SALT- PRECIOUS AND SACRED
The mineral, salt has been valued in every tradition and culture down the ages.
The structure of salt appears as a beautiful sacred geometry under a microscope. Sacred geometry is a powerful design to connect with the spiritual world to restore harmony and balance in the material world.
Salt not only brings flavor and taste in cooking, but it has been valued as a precious commodity in the ancient times.
In ancient times people were paid in salt, they conducted their businesses with salt as the currency.
Even today many cultures around the world start their celebrations with salt.
Spiritually salt is considered to be a protective agent, a cleansing and purifying agent.
Sea salt is valued highly to ward off negative energies, salt is sprinkled around haunted buildings. Some cultures keep salt in front of their homes and in their altars for cleansing and protection.
In the ancient African tradition they believed that salt repels evil spirits and also absorbs the negative energy from our physical spaces.
Sea salt is believed to cleanse us physically and energetically also. When we go into a crowded place and come back with a headache, it is wonderfully healing and relaxing to take a salt water bath.
People take a dip in the sea water to refresh their body, mind and spirit. A century ago people who suffered with lung or breathing problems were sent to live near the seashore so that the salty air would heal their lungs.
For centuries people have been on pilgrimage to the Dead Sea, for its haling benefits. The Dead Sea is loaded with minerals so that people cannot drown, they can sit on the water and soak it in so that the salts cleanse and detoxifies their physical bodies and spirit.
Even in our modern times, saline solutions, salt solutions are very effective, to relieve nasal congestion, salt vapors are used to remove blockages in the breathing tubes, simple saline solutions are used in nebulizers also to relieve difficulty in breathing. Many people prefer saline solution instead of harsh medicines.
A sacred bath is done by soaking in warm water mixed with salt and herbs, it has profound impact in boosting one’s spiritual health.
There are many practices with salt around the world since people of many generations have witnessed and experienced its benefits.
These are simple things you can do with sea salt, to help cleanse and protect your body and your space. Please use sea salt, or pink salt. Do not use table salt or iodized salt for this practice.
1. Sprinkle salt around your home to remove stagnant negative energies.
2. Take a cup of water and add 2 tablespoons of sea salt and place it in your home and change it every two days.
3. Take a bowl of water add 2 tablespoons of sea salt and allow it to dissolve, write your name on a piece of paper and soak it in the salt water. Symbolically asking the salt and water to cleanse your body, mind and soul and help in clarity and well being. Hold the bowl in your hand and give thanks from your heart for the cleansing.
4. You can also write an affirmation for yourself in the present tense in a piece of paper and soak the paper into the salt water for sometime. Give thanks and gratitude to the water, say thank you from your heart for the healing and cleansing. Remove the soaked paper and allow it to dry and then give thanks and discard it by burning it or ripping it to pieces.
As you do the salt ritual, give a prayer to Source.
A simple prayer, “Great Heart of God, may the salt that I sprinkle around my house, the salt that I use in my food, and the salt that I soak in, help to liberate my body and mind from lower vibrating energies and bring protection and well being into my space.
And so it is.
