A REMINDER ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
International Women’s Day is an occasion to educate the public on issues of concern and to address global problems and celebrate and reinforce the achievements of women, despite the struggles and trials they continue to face from ancient times.
Women of all countries have been suffering in a world of inequality and discrimination. A world where violence against them goes unnoticed.
From ancient times the struggle and trials women faced and are still facing is unspeakable.
Women do two thirds of the world’s work. Yet they earn only one tenth of the world’s income and own less than one percent of the world’s property. They are among the poorest of the world’s poor.
-Barber Conable (a famous Congressman in the US)
Sadly this is the statistics around the world.
In the government sectors around the world there is an alarming lack of funding for women’s well fare. UN statistics shows that only 5 % of government aid is focused on tackling violence against women and girls and less than 0.2% is directed to its prevention.
The UN urges policy makers to value and recognize the vital contribution women make to economies world wide through paid and unpaid care work.
Women spend around three times more time on unpaid care work than men and if these activities were assigned a monetary value, they would account for more than 40 % of GDP.
GDP means Gross Domestic Product, it is the value added through the production of goods and services in a country.
Gender equality is the greatest human rights challenge.
When a country invests in women, everyone benefits.
For ending the violence against women adequate funding is important.
Investments to improve the living conditions and financial independence of women is crucial for all countries.
This day ‘women’s day’ is a reminder for everyone to go within their heart and live from their nobility.
Today celebrate the women in your life, celebrate the girl child.
Today Appreciate them with your kind words and actions.
Do anything and everything to support the empowerment of women around the world.
A society thrives when its citizens support gender equality and create a world of boundless opportunity and empowerment for all.
May humanity awaken to its nobility within.
May every being on this Planet be treated with love and respect.
Let us support gender equality.
May this Planet be blessed!
Blessings!
