THE IMPERMANENCE OF REALITY

A REMINDER TO SELF

THE IMPERMANENCE OF REALITY

“Everything Changes” – A Zen Teaching
One of the foremost teachings in Buddhism is that everything in life is impermanent. Suzuki Roshi (Shunryu Suzuki of Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind) is referring to this impermanence by saying “everything changes”.

This is a very deep teaching, let us sum it up in a way that can be understood and immediately helpful in a few words.
Because impermanence encompasses everything, you can contemplate for hours on end and not realize the full magnitude of the principle of impermanence.
You are impermanent, your loved ones are impermanent, your home is impermanent, even our planet is impermanent.

Why is this important? Because it teaches us that grasping onto things is one of the major reasons as to why we suffer.
We need to live being aware of the ever-changing nature of reality and appreciate the present moment.
It’s not about letting go, it’s really about not grasping in the first place.
If we can learn to live in this way, we can find peace in everyday life.

When I contemplate on this teaching from the Buddha, I feel that
every new moment becomes an opportunity to let go our mind stories and let the Divine inspire us.
Information, opinions, judgments, knowledge everything becomes mind stories. These are the enormous burdens we carry.
Stories and labels of ‘I this’ ‘I that’ ‘me’ ‘mine’ are so burdensome that they cloud our vision and we lose clarity of mind.

Our responsibility is to unburden ourselves of all these mind stories willingly because they are impermanent and they cannot support our life journey of growth and evolvement. Our willingness to let go is a wonderful decision.

The Divine is ever willing to clear our stories when we sincerely ask.
Asking the Divine for clearing the stories is actually about getting into gratitude.

Sit with the stories, feel deeply into them, understand that you are an empty page where the stories can be written. As you continue to be in gratitude and appreciation for the present moment, you start writing a new and beautiful story of your connection with the Divine within you in this powerful Present moment. You become clear, you get into freedom.

When you are clear without stuff clouding your vision you get to see and receive Divine inspiration every moment. Life flows with effortless ease.

Life is truly a moment by moment creation with Divine inspiration, it is not a compilation of past or future stories.

Consciously, constantly, come to the powerful present moment,
clear the mind stories, become nothing every moment. No one to be, nowhere to go, nothing to do, just be the clear vessel to flow as Divinity on this physical Planet.

When I am nothing, I am a clear vessel for Divine inspiration.
Blessings!
