BE YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND

You carry yourself wherever you go. It is important to love, respect and appreciate yourself, so that you have a best friend with you wherever you go.

The best spiritual work is to be your own best friend.
This is one of the most important paths in this life journey.

When you are there for you, your seeking is over.
Your seeking for approval, love, validation, relationship, friendship, healing, encouragement, its all over.
This is because you are there to give these things to you.

Be kind to yourself, stop violent thoughts of self judgment, fear, and disrespect towards yourself.
Be good to yourself, trust yourself at all times.
Bless yourself and uplift yourself whenever needed.

When we don’t learn to love and respect ourselves, we get to a place of utter despair and loneliness during tough times. Irrespective of people around you, you notice that it is you alone who goes through whatever comes your way. You need to work on yourself and dig yourself out of despair.

When you have not learned to love and respect yourself, you have no support system from you to fall back on, so the only option is to go with the opinions of others. The opinions are mostly fear based, criticisms and judgments. These add more to your despair.

There are a few simple things you can do to become your best friend.

Take time out to sit with yourself in silence. Imagine how you would treat your friend, you would be patient with them, listen to them and get to know them more. Do the same thing with yourself. Listen to your thoughts and emotions, get to know what makes you happy, what pains you and what makes you sad.

Be there for you. Listen to your needs. Give yourself time for rest, relaxation, food, warmth, emotional comfort and uplifting words. Mother yourself. Treat yourself as your own little child.

Look at yourself in the mirror, look at the eyes of the person looking back at you and tell aloud, “I love you, you are wonderful”.
Say it with feeling, see the joy rising within.

The body being was created in your mother’s womb but the spirit that makes the body come alive is from the Creator. So love yourself as the temple that has the Spirit of the Creator within. You are precious, you are worthy of your own love.

Give yourself a pep talk. Notice all your strengths and appreciate yourself for it just like you would do for a friend. During times of trouble, uplift yourself by saying “you can do this”, ” you are capable.”

Be kind to yourself. Do not encourage violent thoughts of criticism. Get out of toxic relationships. Smile often. Laugh a lot. Get yourself simple gifts just like you would do for a dear friend. Satisfy the child within you. Play. Connect with nature. Do everything that helps to keep you in a pleasant state of mind.

Be honest with yourself. Accept your weaknesses. Take steps to become better and better at living. Live your truth. Be your own guide and mentor and cheerleader. Provide yourself with the many ways of support.

Only you can give yourself the love, encouragement, and happiness you deserve. No one else can do this for you.
The one person who will be with you all your life is you yourself.
The best spiritual work is to be your own best friend.
